Carols by Candlelight paddle:

Saturday 17th November 2011 a group of kayakers meet for their annual
Carols By Candlelight evening paddle.
This year was no exception with glow sticks, christmas lights, santa hats all
lighting up the kayaks into the evening.
Some of the group start on the paddle around Urunga Island before dark.
The evening was mild, air temperature was comfortable for paddling and only a slight
breeze. We paddle up Back Creek and then decided since we had the tide with us we would
paddle down the Bellinger River side of the island to do the full loop.
Julie lights up on dusk, listening to the carols.

We paddle to where we could see the crowd at Urunga Reserve and we could hear all of
the Christmas Carols being sung. It was just as well we were on the water, so our singing could
not be heard. It is such a peaceful and relaxing way to enjoy the lead up to Christmas.

There were plenty of chocolates being shared between all the kayakers, chatting away about what they are doing this Christmas, and the occasional burst into song when we knew the words to the carol being sung.
Some of the fireworks as seem from a kayak
great display this year

The Urunga Chamber of Commerce put on a really good Carols by Candlelight and I think the best
fireworks display they have done yet.
